Artist/Programer: Joshua Davis

I should have posted this guy up a long time ago. I was exposed to him through a teacher, who actually managed to get Mr Davis himself to come give a two day workshop up here at Utah State University. He's super FLASH actionscript code savey and he creates a bunch of images and writes the code in the program to go in and randomly grab various images/patterns and shapes hes drawn and color, rotate and resize them. He then slightly tweeks and adjust the final products as needed. His stuff it amazing, and its even neater to watch the program create them on the spot. Everytime he hits enter it produces another 100% original compostion ad you don't know what it'll throw together next. He's a creative genius.

His website has stuff from way back when and you can see how he was a total trend setter. His 2004 stuff is what people are finally getting to now in design.

He's the originator of most navagation styles. The magnification effect on the dock in most Mac systems for example. That was him.

Here's his sight link

Here's a series of those randomly generated artworks he does. Check these out for sure

BLU is BACK

I know you're probably sick of my post about BLU, but the guy is just so rad. Heres a recent video post showing him in action. I wondered how he actually did those gigantic murals. His technique is pretty basic. He just tapes a wide brush to a super long stick to draw the dark outlines and details. I thought the video really captured the quiet, tense-ness of what he does. I'm excited for his documentary of thier Latin America trip to come out.

Brendan Monroe: Boogers, Vomit, Hemoglobin

This guy's style is so soft, mellow, and just captivating. His content is super silly (especially in his painting section). things I read it as was, blood cells moping, vomit consoling a human with hugs, junk/pollution swimming, a hotdog/poop trying to find something to cover up with, virusis (microscopic) floating about like clouds. I just was inthrawled by his content, and execution. I'd love to have like a huge print of those virus ones hanging in my living room. For sure checkout his paintings.

Jen Corace: Girls and Snakes

I'm not sure, but I think she's using watercolor on a textured watercolor paper, although it looks kinda collage-ish at times. Check it out and make a guess.
